브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 최태원 SK그룹 회장이 지정학적 갈등과 분열이 불러온 글로벌 경제블록화 현상 등에 적극적으로 대처해 나가기 위해 한일 경제협력체를 구성하자고 제안했다.
최 회장은 지난 달 30일 일본 도쿄대에서 열린 ‘도쿄포럼 2023’ 환영사와 특별연설을 통해 “지정학적 갈등과 기후 변화, 디지털 전환 등으로 이제 단일 글로벌 시장의 시대는 지나갔다”며 “한일 경제연합체를 구성해 글로벌 분열 위기 상황을 돌파하자”고 말했다.
이어 “지난 1년간 40여개국을 방문하면서 지정학적 긴장을 목도했는데, 각국이 파트너와 제휴해 규칙과 표준을 만들고 있는 것”이라며 “미국과 유럽연합(EU), 중국 등이 각자의 시장을 만들어 가면서 한일 양국은 어려움에 봉착했다”고 진단했다.
특히, “노동인구와 대(對) 중국 수출, 투자 감소 등에 직면한 한일 양국이 성장 뿐만 아니라 생존을 위해서 더욱 공격적인 조치들을 취해 나가야 한다”며 한일 경제연합체 제안 배경을 설명했다.
최 회장은 “한일 양국이 경제연합체를 구성함으로써 글로벌 시장에서 룰 테이커(rule taker)에서 룰 세터(rule setter)로 전환해 가자”고 강조했다.
그러면서 “일본과 한국의 국내총생산(GDP)을 합하면 약 7조 달러 규모”라며 “한일 경제연합체는 양국의 미래 발전을 위한 강력한 촉진제가 될 수 있다”고 말했다.
이어 “양국은 반도체와 전기차 배터리, 의약품, 신재생에너지 등 산업에서 강점을 갖고 있다”며 “LNG, 스타트업 플랫폼 등 새로 시작할 잠재 영역도 많다”고 덧붙였다.
