(브레이크뉴스인천 문광수 기자) 부천시가 오는 1월 16일까지 멜버른(호주)과 퀘벡(캐나다) 해외레지던시에 참여할 그림 이야기꾼 2명을 모집한다고 밝혔다.
부천시에 따르면, 2024년 3월 멜버른에서 2주간 진행되는 ‘Parallel Panels 프로젝트’는 멜버른·RMIT Univerisy·부천시의 협업 레지던시이다. 부천 작가로 선정돼 참여하는 작가는 RMIT Culture's McCraith House에서 묵는다.
퀘벡 레지던시는 4월 초부터 5~7주간 진행되며 퀘벡시 중심가에 위치한 숙소에 묵게 된다.
퀘벡 만화축제 기간에 진행되는 레지던시는 부천시뿐 아니라 10여 개의 해외도시 작가들도 함께한다.
동아시아 최초 문학창의도시로 선정된 부천시는 교류 협력 사업의 일환으로 해외 문학 창의도시의 레지던시 프로그램을 국내에 소개해왔다.
2020년 제프 노, 로리 워터맨 등을 시작으로 2023년까지 7명의 해외 작가가 부천레지던시에 참여했다.
그러나 상대 도시와의 언어, 거주비용 등 여러 어려움으로 부천 작가의 해외레지던시 참여는 어려웠으나 부천시는 올해부터 1:1 교환 레지던시로 프로그램을 확대해 부천의 예술가들도 해외레지던시에 참여할 수 있도록 했다.
올해는 만화·번역·그래픽노블 등에서 활동하는 작가를 대상으로 모집하며 점차 분야를 확대해 나갈 예정이다.

Bucheon City announced that it is recruiting two picture storytellers to participate in overseas residencies in Melbourne (Australia) and Quebec (Canada) until January 16th.
According to Bucheon City, the ‘Parallel Panels Project’, which will be held for two weeks in Melbourne in March 2024, is a collaborative residency between Melbourne, RMIT Univerisy, and Bucheon City. Artists selected and participating as Bucheon artists will stay at RMIT Culture's McCraith House.
