신계용 과천시장이 지난 1월 15일, ‘취약계층을 위한 따뜻한 겨울나기 연탄 후원’ 행사에 참여해 봉사활동을 전개했다.

신 시장은 사단법인 ‘희망을 나누는 사람들’이 주거용 비닐하우스 거주 꿀벌마을 주민들을 위해 기부한 연탄을 과천시 지역사회보장협의체 위원 등 40여 명과 함께 주민들에게 전달했다.

‘희망을 나누는 사람들’은 6,000장의 연탄을 기부하고, 행사에도 참여해 연탄을 함께 날랐다.

연탄을 전달받은 한 주민은 “연탄이 없어서 긴 겨울을 어떻게 보내야 하나 걱정이 많았는데, 연탄을 기부해주시고 이렇게 집에 나르기까지 해주셔서 정말 감사하다. 따뜻한 겨울을 보낼 수 있게 됐다”고 말했다.

On January 15th, Gwacheon Mayor Shin Gye-yong participated in the ‘Sponsoring Warm Winter Coal Briquettes for the Vulnerable’ event and carried out volunteer work.

Mayor Shin, together with about 40 people, including members of the Gwacheon City Community Security Council, delivered briquettes donated by the non-profit organization ‘People Sharing Hope’ to the residents of the bee village living in residential greenhouses.

‘People Sharing Hope’ donated 6,000 briquettes and participated in the event, carrying briquettes together.

One resident who received the briquettes said, “I was worried about how I would spend the long winter without briquettes, but I am really grateful that they donated the briquettes and even delivered them to my home. “We can now have a warm winter,” he said.
