이번 회의는 감포항 100년의 역사적 의미를 새기고, 새로운 100년 도약을 위한 체계적인 기념사업 추진을 논의하기 위해 마련됐다.
시민을 대표하는 100인 위원회는 관광, 농·어업, 체육, 대학교, 자생단체 등 다양한 분야로 이뤄졌으며, 기념사업 종료 시까지 한시적으로 운영된다.
이들은 관주도에서 벗어나 시민과의 소통 등을 통해 감포항 100년 역사 기념사업 추진방향을 설정하고 콘텐츠를 개발한다.
특히 기획총괄분과, 행사홍보분과, 학술문화분과, 참여지원분과, 행사운영분과 등 5개 반으로 구분해 해당분야 전문성을 바탕으로 자문역할과 분과별 과제 수행도 담당한다.
기획총괄분과는 기념사업의 아이템 개발 등 종합기획 업무를 맡으며, 행사홍보분과는 행사 온·오프라인 홍보와 주민 공감대 형성에 나선다. 학술문화분과는 포럼·역사·문화 등 사업계획을 수립한다.
참여지원분과는 먹거리, 즐길거리 등 판매부스 운영·관리를, 행사운영분과는 안전관리와 교통대책 등 행사전반을 책임진다.
당일 회의는 기념사업 경과보고, 감포권역 해양사업 추진현황 설명, 100인 위원회 구성, 분과별 토의 및 안건 발표 순으로 진행됐다.
각 분과에서는 감포항 근대사 관련자료 수집, 시민참여 방안, 참신한 안건 발굴로 성공적인 감포항 100년 기념사업에 함께 힘을 모으기로 다짐했다.
한편 1925년 1월 16일 개항한 감포항은 1937년 제물포와 함께 읍으로 승격될 만큼 국내 대표 어항이었으나 현재는 어항기능 약화 및 인구감소로 예전의 영화를 아련하게 간직하고 있는 항구다.
주낙영 시장은 “감포항 100년 기념행사는 단순 이벤트를 넘어 아름다운 경주바다를 알리고 감포항을 중심으로 해양관광이 활성화 될 수 있는 계기를 마련하는 것”이라며 “감포항이 동해안의 최고 미항으로 거듭날 수 있도록 남은 기간 위원님들의 고견 제출과 적극적인 협조를 바란다”고 말했다.
