브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 삼성전자가 오는 19일부터 제주도∙여수∙통영의 인근 섬 지역을 대상으로 갤럭시 Z 폴드6·Z 플립6 ‘드론 배송 서비스’를 실시한다. 모바일 제품에 대한 드론 배송 서비스는 국내 최초다.
삼성전자 ‘드론 배송 서비스’는 국토교통부가 주관하는 ‘드론실증도시 구축사업’과의 협업을 통해 진행된다. 각 지자체별로 구축돼 있는 드론 기기, 이착륙 존, 관제 시스템 등 드론 배송 인프라를 활용해 운영한다.
드론을 배송에 활용하면 선박 운항 종료 후 물류 취약 시간에도 배송이 가능하다. 덕분에 제품 배송 기간이 약 7일에서 1일로 대폭 단축될 예정이다. 도서 지역 소비자가 매장을 방문해 구매하는 번거로움을 줄일 수 있어 고객 편의성도 대폭 개선될 전망이다.
향후, 적재 중량 10kg 이하의 △스마트폰 △태블릿 △버즈 △워치 등 갤럭시 모바일 품목 중심으로 배송 제품을 확대해 나갈 계획이다.
제주에서는 제주도 내 상모리∙금능 등의 드론센터에서 이륙해 가파도∙마라도∙비양도 등 3개의 거점으로 배송을 실시한다. 여수 지역은 하화도·제도·송도 등, 통영 지역은 비산도·좌도·만지도 등 10여개 이상 지역에 순차적으로 확대할 예정이다.
삼성전자 관계자는 “드론 배송 서비스는 도서 지역 소비자들에게도 더욱 빠르고 편리하게 갤럭시 사용 경험을 제공하기 위한 새로운 시도”라며 “앞으로도 AI 시대를 선도하는 기업으로서 소비자의 편의와 권익 향상을 위한 새로운 기술과 서비스를 지속 발전시켜 나갈 것이다”고 말했다.
한편, 삼성전자는 지난해부터 TV, 냉장고, 세탁기 등 대형 가전제품을 삼성닷컴을 통해 구매한 경우, 배송 시간대를 오전 9시부터 오후 7시까지 2시간 단위로 소비자가 직접 지정할 수 있는 ‘시간 맞춤 설치 서비스’를 시작하는 등 고객 편의성을 높이기 위한 다양한 배송 서비스를 운영하고 있다.
