시는 지난해 9월부터 내년 연말까지 287억 원의 예산으로 황오, 성건, 중부, 내남 등 탑동 중블럭 급수지역에 노후 상수관로 69㎞를 개체하는 대규모 관망 정비사업을 진행한다.
이번 사업으로 경주시 전역 누계유수율은 2022년 58.2% → 2023년 64.6%로 상승했다.
이는 급수량이 연간 448만톤 절약되는 효과로 추후 각종 사업 추진에 필요한 물 수요 확보에 큰 도움이 될 전망이다.
더불어 보황 중블럭 내 상수도관의 노후도가 심하고 유수율이 저조한 지역에도 2029년까지 409억원의 예산을 투입해 후속 노후 상수관로 정비사업을 추진한다.
시는 이 사업이 준공되면 수돗물 품질향상과 선진 수도시스템 확보는 물론 연간 50여억 원의 수돗물 생산비용이 추가적으로 절감될 것으로 예상된다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “각종 유수율 제고사업은 향후 SMR 국가산단 및 신경주역세권 해오름 플랫폼 시티 조성 등에 따른 물 수요 확보에 필수적인 사업이다”라며 “상수도는 지역 발전과 시민들의 생활에 직결되는 문제인 만큼 사업을 조속히 완료해 체계적인 수도시스템 구축으로 물 복지 실현에 기여하겠다”고 말했다.
