한국의 현대 역사에서 1930-1950년대는 격변(激變)의 시대입니다. 일제의 전쟁 광분에 따른 식민화(植民化)의 고착, 1945년 일본 패망에 따른 독립-광복(獨立-光復), 1950-1953년 민족 내전(民族內戰)에 따른 주검이 난무했었습니다.
이 시기의 사람들의 큰 특징은 현대-서양식 교육을 받은 첫 세대(1세대)라는 것입니다.
1970년 생인 소설가 한강이 올해의 노벨문학상을 수상, 국가 전체가 축제의 분위기입니다.
