(브레이크뉴스인천 문광수 기자) 부천시가 오는 11월 19일 오후 3시께 웹툰융합센터에서 제4회 부천디아스포라문학상(이하 문학상) 시상식을 개최한다고 밝혔다.
부천시에 따르면, 문학상은 디아스포라를 주제로 한 장편소설, 한국어나 영어로 출판된 현존 작가의 ‘작품’을 대상으로 선정하며, 수상작을 집필한 작가는 5천만원, 번역가는 1천만원의 상금을 받게 된다.
이번 문학상 수상작은 모하메드 음부가르 사르(Mohamed Mbougar Sarr) 작가의 ‘인간들의 가장 은밀한 기억(La plus secr?te m?moire des hommes) (윤진 번역)’으로 2022년 엘리에서 출판됐다.
수상작은 2023년 5월부터 약 1년 6개월간 추천위원회(8명, 예심)와 심사위원회(5명, 본심) 심사와 문학상 운영위원회 승인 절차를 거쳐 선정됐으며, 2024년 7월에는 10편의 숏리스트가 공개됐다.
제4회 문학상 심사위원회는 문학평론가인 정과리 심사위원장(문학평론가, 연세대 명예교수)을 필두로 이재룡(번역가, 숭실대 명예교수), 크리스 리(소설가, 연세대 교수), 조강석(문학평론가, 연세대 교수), 데이비드 카루쓰(번역가, 제1회, 제3회 문학상 심사위원) 심사위원이 참여했다.
추천위원회는 8개 언어권(한국어, 영어, 독일어, 러시아어, 프랑스어, 스페인어, 일본어, 중국어) 문학전문가로 구성됐으며 명단은 공개하지 않는다.
수상의 영예를 안은 ‘인간들의 가장 은밀한 기억’은 신비로운 세네갈 출신 작가 엘리만을 찾아가는 또 다른 젊은 작가 디에간 파이의 5주간 여정을 그린다.
작가 엘리만은 작품을 발표한 직후 ‘흑인 랭보’라는 격찬을 받지만 표절 의혹이 제기된 뒤 몰락하고 사라진다. 미스터리 형식으로 속도감 있게 전개하면서 문학과 삶에 대한 고민을 담은 작품이다.
‘인간들의 가장 은밀한 기억’의 작가 모하메드 음부가르 사르는 1990년 세네갈에서 태어나 고등학교까지 프랑스어로 정규 교육을 받았다.
프랑스로 건너간 뒤 파리의 사회과학고등연구원에서 수학했고, 박사학위 논문을 중단하며 글을 쓰기 시작했다.
이후 ‘둘러싸인 땅(Terre ceinte(2015)’을 시작으로, ‘합창대의 침묵(Silence du choeur)(2017)’, ‘순수한 인간들(De purs hommes)(2018)’ 발표했다.
‘인간들의 가장 은밀한 기억(La plus secr?te m?moire des hommes)(2021)’ 그의 네 번째 장편소설로, 2021년 공쿠르상을 수상했으며 38개의 언어로 번역됐다. 그는 세네갈 대통령으로부터 국가 공로 훈장을 받았다.

또한 한국의 독자들에게 다양한 국가의 문학을 소개하고 한국 문학을 외국에 알리기 위해 수여하는 번역가 시상은 한국에 『인간들의 가장 은밀한 기억』을 알리는 데 이바지한 윤진 번역가에게 수여된다.
문학상 시상식은 작가와의 만남, 시상식, 공연(샌드아트, 부천시립합창단), 전시 등으로 다채롭게 채워질 예정이다. 1부(15:00) 시상식이 끝나고 2부(16:00)에서는 문학상 사회자인 박혜진 아나운서와 모하메드 음부가르 사르 작가가 참여해 ‘작가와의 만남’을 진행한다. 참여 신청은 문학상 홈페이지(budilia.or.kr)에 접속해 네이버폼을 통해 할 수 있다.
