중견언론인들의 모임인 한국전문언론인협회(회장/김동성)는 1월 3일자 보도자료에서 명동교자와 업무협약을 위한 MOU를 체결했다고 알렸다.
보도자료에 따르면, 한국전문언론인협회와 명동교자는 독서캠페인을 함께 펼쳐나가기로 했다. 또한 명동교자를 방문하는 고객들을 대상으로 독후감백일장을 진행한다고 밝혔다.

한국전문언론인협회가 발행하는 『책사랑신문』에 고객들이 독후감을 투고하면 연말에 우수작을 선정해 시상한다는 것. 특히 한국전문언론인협회 산하의 ‘반디예술단’ 단원들이 독서캠페인의 홍보대사로 활약할 예정이라고 협회는 밝혔다. 김동성 한국전문언론인협회 회장은 “1년에 한 권의 책도 읽지 않는 국민이 10명 중 3명일 정도로 우리나라의 독서지수가 낮다”고 말하고 “명동교자는 하루에 몇 백 명의 고객이 찾는 ‘맛집’이라는 점에서 독서캠페인을 펼치기엔 적합한 공간”이라고 선정이유를 설명했다.
