브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 신동욱 국민의힘 중앙선대위 대변인단장은 4일 대선 패배와 관련 "21대 대선 결과를 겸허히 받아들인다. 그 무엇도 국민의 뜻에 우선할 수 없다"고 밝혔다.
신 단장은 이날 논평을 통해 "대한민국의 자유민주주의를 수호하기 위해 국민 여러분과 당원동지 여러분께서 보여주신 헌신과 노고에 고개 숙여 감사드린다"며 이같이 말했다.
그는 "국민의힘은 선거 결과를 겸허히 받아들이며, 그 뜻을 깊이 새기겠다"며 "우리 안에 있는 기득권과 안일함을 벗어던지고, 뼈를 깎는 각오로 혁신에 나서겠다"고 강조했다.
이어 "무너진 신뢰를 다시 세우고, 유능하고 책임 있는 정당으로 거듭나겠다"면서 "민생 앞에 더 낮은 자세로 임하겠다. 분열된 국론을 수습하고, 국민의 삶을 지키는 든든한 야당이 되겠다"고 말했다.
또한 "국민을 향한 책임을 멈추지 않겠다. 국민 곁을 끝까지 지키겠다"라며 "오늘은 끝이 아니라 시작이다. 더 낮은 자세로 국민 속으로 들어가겠다. 더 나은 미래, 더 굳건한 보수의 길을 묵묵히 준비하겠다"고 했다.
신 단장을 이재명 대통령을 향해서는 "갈등으로 분열된 대한민국을 하나로 단합해 국민 대통합을 이뤄내 달라"면서 ‘우리’의 대통령이 아닌 국민 모두의 대통령이 되어 주길 바란다"고 했다.
아울러 "민주당도 여당으로서 무거운 책임감을 가지고 국정운영에 매진해야 한다"고 했다.
신 대변인은 "지금 대한민국은 풍전등화의 위기에 처해 있다"며 "글로벌 경제 위기와 어려운 민생이라는 내우외환 속에서 반드시 대한민국을 살려내야 한다"고 강조했다. 그러면서 "국민의힘도 국익을 위해서라면 더 나은 대한민국을 위해 초당적으로 협력하겠다"고 덧붙였다.
