충남 서천군이 지역 공업지역의 지속 가능한 발전과 체계적 관리를 위한 중장기 전략 수립에 나섰다.
군은 지난달 30일 군청 대회의실에서 ‘2035 서천군 도시공업지역 기본계획(안)’에 대한 공청회를 열고, 관련 주민과 전문가, 관계자들의 다양한 의견을 청취했다고 1일 밝혔다.
이번 공청회는 2022년 1월부터 시행된 '도시공업지역의 관리 및 활성화에 관한 특별법'에 따라 군이 처음으로 수립하는 법정계획인 ‘도시공업지역 기본계획’의 일환으로 마련됐다.
이 계획은 산업단지나 항만구역 등 다른 법률에 따라 관리되는 구역을 제외한 서천군 내 공업지역에 대해 종합적 발전 방향과 활용 방안을 제시하게 된다.
계획 대상 지역은 장항읍 신창리·장암리·원수리 일대와 서천읍 군사리 일원 등 총 0.966㎢에 달하는 공업지역으로, 향후 2035년까지의 발전 구상과 공간 관리 원칙이 반영될 예정이다.
군은 이번 공청회를 통해 계획의 타당성 검토는 물론, 주민 생활과 산업 활동 간 조화를 이룰 수 있는 실행 방안을 논의했다.
유재영 서천부군수는 이 자리에서 “이번 공청회에서 제시된 의견을 면밀히 검토해 체계적인 관리방안을 마련하고, 공업지역의 경쟁력 강화를 위한 기반을 구축하겠다”고 밝혔다.
군은 공청회에서 수렴된 내용을 바탕으로 관련 기관 협의, 군의회 의견 청취, 군계획위원회 심의 등의 절차를 거쳐 오는 12월 중 최종 기본계획을 확정하고 이를 공고할 계획이다.
