충남 예산군이 의료 접근이 어려운 농촌 지역 주민들을 위해 추진 중인 ‘농촌왕진버스’가 주민들의 호평 속에 운영되고 있다.
군은 지난 8일 고덕농협 대회의실에서 고덕농협(조합장 윤관호)과 협력해 지역 주민 400여 명을 대상으로 이동형 의료서비스를 제공했다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 고령 인구 비율이 높은 지역 특성을 반영해 마련됐다. 의료기관과의 거리가 멀어 건강관리에 어려움을 겪는 농업인을 직접 찾아가 진료함으로써, 의료 사각지대를 해소하고자 하는 취지다.
현장에서는 한방 진료, 시력 검사, 구강 검진 등 다양한 분야의 진료가 이뤄졌으며, 총 26명의 전문 의료진이 참여해 실질적인 의료 서비스를 제공했다. 의사, 치과의사, 한의사 등이 팀을 이뤄 개인별 건강 상태에 맞춘 상담과 치료를 진행했다.
진료에 참여한 한 어르신은 “멀리 있는 병원은 가기 부담스러웠는데, 오늘은 집 가까이에서 진료를 받을 수 있어 무척 고마웠다”며 “이런 기회가 자주 있었으면 좋겠다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
이날 행사에는 최재구 예산군수도 현장을 방문해 의료진과 자원봉사자들을 격려하며, 진료 대기 중인 어르신들과 일일이 인사를 나누고 건강 상태와 생활 불편 사항 등을 직접 청취했다. 최 군수는 “농촌왕진버스는 의료 사각지대를 직접 찾아가는 뜻깊은 복지 모델”이라며 “앞으로도 군민이 계신 곳에 먼저 다가가는 현장 중심의 행정을 강화해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

군 관계자는 "지속적인 수요 조사를 통해 향후에도 더욱 많은 지역 주민들이 혜택을 받을 수 있도록 의료 인프라 연계와 방문 진료 서비스를 다각화할 방침”이라고 전했다.
