【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청(교육감 임종식)은 7월부터 12월까지 도내 어린이집에 다니는 이주배경 유아들의 언어 발달과 건강한 성장을 돕기 위해 전국 최초로 ‘이주배경 유아 언어 발달 지원 사업’을 추진한다고 14일 밝혔다.
국제결혼 및 외국인 가정 자녀 등 이주배경 유아는 언어와 문화 차이로 인해 언어 발달 지연 위험이 크다. 이에 경북교육청은 조기 진단부터 맞춤형 치료, 교육 프로그램 운영까지 연계한 통합 지원 체계를 구축한다.
사업 대상은 3~5세 외국인 자녀 보육료 지원을 받는 도내 39개 어린이집으로, 6개월간 운영된다. 어린이집에는 언어 발달 지원 예산이 지급되며, 현장 컨설팅과 모니터링도 병행해 사업의 질을 높인다.
주요 지원 내용은 ▲언어 발달 지연 의심 유아 대상 진단비 지원 및 지역 치료센터와 연계한 개별·그룹 치료 ▲언어놀이, 그림책 활동, 독서 프로그램 등 유아 중심 언어 발달 증진 프로그램 ▲이중언어 그림책 등 언어 지원 교재·교구 제공 등이다.
이번 사업은 이주배경 유아의 언어 능력 향상과 기초학습력 증진, 건강한 성장, 지역사회 정착에 기여할 것으로 기대된다. 특히 어린이집 유아를 대상으로 한 최초의 언어 발달 지원 사업으로, 유보통합 정책의 현장 체감도를 높이는 선도 모델이 될 전망이다.
경북교육청은 참여 기관 역량 강화 연수와 성과 평가회, 우수 사례 공유 등을 통해 지속 가능한 정책으로 발전시킬 계획이다.
임종식 교육감은 “이주배경 유아가 언어 장벽 없이 우리 사회의 건강한 구성원으로 성장할 수 있도록 돕는 것은 중요한 교육적 책무”라며 “이번 사업이 이주배경 유아의 언어 발달을 돕고, 다양성과 포용성을 높이는 데 기여하길 바란다”고 말했다.

The Gyeongbuk Office of Education plans to develop it into a sustainable policy through capacity building training for participating organizations, performance evaluation meetings, and sharing of best practices.
