도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 14일(현지시간) 향후 50일 내 러시아 블라디미르 푸틴 대통령이 우크라이나와 전쟁을 멈추고 휴전 합의를 하지 않을 경우 100% 관세를 부과하겠다고 밝혔다.
영국 '로이터 통신'에 따르면 트럼프 대통령은 이날 워싱톤 DC 백악관 집무실에서 가진 마르크 뤼터 나토(NATO·북대서양조약기구) 사무총장과의 회담에서 "관세는 약 100% 수준으로 세컨더리 관세라 부를 수 있다"며 이같이 전했다. '세컨더리 제재'는 통상 제재 대상국과 연관된 제3국에 대한 제재를 지칭한다.
그러면서 "우크라이나에 방공 무기뿐 아닌 대규모 공격 무기를 지원하겠다"고 덧븥였다. 관세·무기제공 등을 통해 러시아에 대한 압박 강도를 최대화 하고 나선 형국이다.
