경주시는 17일 오전 11시 30분 기상청의 호우주의보 발효 직후 비상 1단계 근무에 돌입, 공무원 등 인력 27명을 현장에 긴급 배치했다.
이날 오후 4시 30분께 남천 수위가 상승하면서 동방교 임시 우회도로가 전면 통제됐고, 오후 6시에는 형산강 수위 상승에 따라 유림지하차도 양방향 통행도 막혔다. 율동 새마을교와 삼릉 앞 세월교 역시 오후 5시 30분부터 침수 우려로 차량 출입이 제한됐다.
집중호우로 인해 시내버스 일부 노선도 운행이 중단됐다. 10번, 11번, 604번, 711번 노선이 일부 구간에서 멈추자, 경주시는 시민 불편을 최소화하기 위해 25인승 임시 순환버스를 메플마을 입구에서 사천왕사지 앞까지 긴급 투입했다. 해당 순환버스는 18일 오전 6시 30분부터 오후 9시 30분까지 운행될 예정이다.
