원광대학교병원은 최근 보건복지부가 주관한 '2025년 신생아 집중치료실 노후장비 교체 지원사업' 공모에 최종 선정돼 지원금을 확보했다.
이번 사업은 모자보건법에 따라 지정된 전국 신생아 집중치료 지역센터 가운데 2009년부터 2012년 사이에 지정된 13개 기관 대상 가운데 7개 소의 노후 의료 장비를 교체해 고위험 신생아의 치료 인프라를 안정적으로 유지하고자 추진됐다.
이번 선정으로 원광대학교병원은 노후 교체 장비를 위한 국고지원과 자부담을 투입, 호남 서해안 권역 고위험 태아와 신생아의 안전한 출생과 건강 증진에 기여할 수 있게 됐다.
원광대학교병원 신생아 집중치료지역센터는 2011년 지정돼 전북ㆍ충남 서남 지역 미숙아 및 중증 신생아의 생명을 보호하기 위해 핵심적인 역할을 수행하고 있다.
매년 실시하는 신생아 중환자실 적정성 평가에서 수준 높은 진료와 실력을 인정받아 우수한 등급을 유지하고 있다.
특히 지난 5월 의정 갈등 장기화로 의료현장이 어려움을 겪는 가운데 군산에서 발생한 신생아 뇌출혈 환자를 다학제 수술로 목숨을 살려냈다.
