이번 프로젝트는 제2의 인생을 꿈꾸는 1956년~1979년생 관외 신중년을 대상으로 한다. 참가자들은 블루로드와 주요 관광지를 탐방하고, 농어촌 체험 등 다양한 '살아보기' 프로그램을 경험하게 된다.
'트레커로 2주 살기'는 지역 청년과 함께하는 트레킹, 인문힐링센터 '여명'에서의 웰니스 활동, 로컬 농어촌 체험, 지역 학생 대상 재능기부 등으로 구성된다. 참가자는 서류와 온라인 면접을 통해 선발되며, 9월 중 두 차례 행사가 진행될 예정이다.
'블루로드 3박 4일 대장정'은 블루로드 전 구간 트레킹, 지역 역사·문화 탐방, 야간 트레킹 등으로 꾸려져 영덕의 자연과 문화를 만끽할 수 있다. 이 프로그램은 모집 인원이 조기에 마감되어 예비 참가자를 추가로 접수 중이며, 10월부터 11월까지 총 네 차례 진행될 계획이다.
김광열 영덕군수는 “영덕은 월평균 약 30만 명의 생활인구가 찾는 매력적인 관광도시”라며, “중장년층의 새로운 도전을 응원하고 지역 정착을 돕기 위해 다양한 프로그램과 지원사업을 추진하겠다”고 말했다.

Yeongdeok County Recruits Participants for "2 Weeks as a Trekker" and "Blue Road Expedition"
Yeongdeok County, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, is hosting the "2 Weeks as a Trekker" and "3-Night, 4-Day Blue Road Expedition" events as part of the "1 City/County 1 Residential Population Specialization Project" to expand the population and encourage local settlement.
This project targets middle-aged and older residents of Yeongdeok County, born between 1956 and 1979, who dream of a second life. Participants will explore the Blue Road and major tourist attractions, and experience various "living" programs, including rural experiences.
"2 Weeks as a Trekker" will include trekking with local youth, wellness activities at the Yeomyeong Humanities Healing Center, local rural experiences, and talent donation activities for local students. Participants will be selected through a document screening and online interviews, and two events are scheduled for September.
The "Blue Road 3-Night, 4-Day Trek" offers a full trek along the entire Blue Road, explorations of local history and culture, and nighttime trekking, allowing visitors to fully experience Yeongdeok's nature and culture. Recruitment for this program has already reached capacity, so additional participants are currently being accepted. A total of four sessions are planned for October and November.
Yeongdeok County Mayor Kim Gwang-yeol stated, "Yeongdeok is an attractive tourist destination with an average monthly population of approximately 300,000 people. We will promote various programs and support initiatives to encourage middle-aged and older adults to take on new challenges and help them settle into the region."
