포항TP는 26일(현지시간) 오스트리아 그라츠에서 AVL List GmbH 및 AVL KOREA와 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 협약식에는 김정표 포항시 일자리경제국장, 정규덕 수소에너지산업과장, 신경종 포항TP 에너지사업본부장, AVL 헬무트 리스트 회장, AVL KOREA 한경만 대표 등 한·오스트리아 수소산업 관계자 20여 명이 참석했다.
이번 협약은 AVL 경영진이 지난 7월 포항을 방문해 실무협의를 진행한 데 따른 후속 조치다. 당시 AVL은 포항의 산업 인프라와 ‘수소 특화도시’ 비전에 주목했으며, 이번 협약을 계기로 양측은 수소연료전지 기술 개발, 시험평가, 인증제도 교류, 산학연 공동 프로젝트 등 실질적인 협력을 확대할 계획이다.
오스트리아에 본사를 둔 AVL은 자동차 및 모빌리티 산업 연구개발과 시험평가 분야의 글로벌 선도 기업으로, 수소연료전지 시스템 및 시험장비에서도 세계적 기술력을 갖추고 있다. 현재 90여 개 해외 법인과 50개의 기술·엔지니어링 센터를 운영하며 글로벌 고객의 모빌리티 혁신을 지원하고 있다.
포항TP는 이번 협약을 통해 글로벌 수소 기술인증 체계 구축과 지역 산업과의 융합을 강화, 포항이 세계적인 수소도시로 도약할 수 있는 기반이 마련될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
배영호 포항TP 원장은 “이번 협약은 한국과 오스트리아 간 수소산업 협력의 중요한 이정표가 될 것”이라며 “포항이 글로벌 수소에너지 중심지로 성장할 수 있도록 모든 역량을 집중하겠다”고 말했다.

Pohang Technology Park Signs MOU with Austria's AVL for Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cooperation
Pohang Technopark (President Bae Young-ho, hereinafter Pohang Technology Park), together with the city of Pohang, will collaborate with Austria's AVL, a global technology company, in the hydrogen fuel cell sector.
Pohang Technology Park announced on the 26th (local time) that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AVL List GmbH and AVL KOREA in Graz, Austria. The signing ceremony was attended by approximately 20 representatives from the Korean and Austrian hydrogen industries, including Kim Jeong-pyo, Director of the Pohang City Employment and Economic Bureau; Jeong Gyu-deok, Head of the Hydrogen Energy Industry Division; Shin Kyeong-jong, Head of the Pohang Technology Park Energy Business Division; Helmut List, Chairman of AVL; and Han Kyung-man, CEO of AVL KOREA.
This agreement is a follow-up to a working-level meeting held in July by AVL executives in Pohang. At the time, AVL focused on Pohang's industrial infrastructure and vision of a "hydrogen-specialized city." With this agreement, both parties plan to expand practical cooperation, including hydrogen fuel cell technology development, testing and evaluation, certification system exchange, and joint industry-academia-research projects.
Headquartered in Austria, AVL is a global leader in R&D and testing and evaluation in the automotive and mobility industries, boasting world-class technology in hydrogen fuel cell systems and testing equipment. Currently, it operates over 90 overseas subsidiaries and 50 technology and engineering centers, supporting mobility innovation for global customers.
Pohang Technology Partnership (TP) expects this agreement to establish a global hydrogen technology certification system and strengthen integration with local industries, laying the foundation for Pohang's leap forward as a world-class hydrogen city.
Pohang Technology Partnership (TP) Director Bae Young-ho stated, "This agreement will mark a significant milestone in hydrogen industry cooperation between Korea and Austria. We will dedicate all our capabilities to helping Pohang grow into a global hydrogen energy hub."
