경기도의회 정윤경 부의장(더불어민주당, 군포1)이 지난 8월 28일 군포시에서 열린 ‘경기도 이주여성 상담센터 개소식’에 참석, 축사에서 “센터가 이주여성들의 새로운 희망이 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
정 부의장은 “경기도는 전국에서 가장 많은 이주여성이 거주하는 지역으로, 지자체의 정책적 책임이 크다”며, “상담센터가 폭력 피해, 체류 자격, 법률·의료 문제 등 복잡한 상황을 마주하는 이주여성들에게 전문적이고 통합적인 지원을 제공하는 기반이 되길 바란다”고 강조했다.
이번 상담센터 설치는 정윤경 부의장이 지난해 아시아의창과의 간담회에서 필요성을 제기한 뒤, 경기도의회 제372회 정례회 본회의에서 관련 질의를 하며 본격 추진됐다. 이어 국중범 의원이 대표발의한 ‘경기도 폭력 피해 이주여성 지원 조례’ 제정에 적극 동참하며 센터 설립이 현실화됐다.

정윤경 부의장은 “서울·인천 상담센터 상담 건수 중 상당수가 경기도민이었다는 사실만 봐도 도내 상담센터의 필요성은 명확했다”며, “오늘의 개소는 단순한 시설 개소가 아닌 경기도 이주여성 인권 보호와 실질적 지원을 위한 중요한 출발점”이라고 평가했다.
센터 운영을 맡은 사단법인 아시아의창에 대해서도 “군포에 뿌리를 두고 30여 년간 이주여성과 아동, 노동자 지원에 앞장서 온 단체로, 앞으로 피해자 한 분 한 분의 삶에 희망을 전하는 역할을 할 것”이라고 기대감을 드러냈다.
끝으로 정윤경 부의장은 “여성의 권익과 인권 보호를 위해 최선을 다하겠다”며, “센터가 경기도 이주여성들의 안전과 존중받는 삶을 뒷받침하는 실질적 컨트롤타워가 되도록 끝까지 함께하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
이날 개소식에는 이학영 국회부의장, 김진명(더불어민주당, 성남6)·성복임(더불어민주당, 군포4) 경기도의원, 아시아의창 관계자, 경기도청 관계자, 시민사회단체 및 이주여성 당사자 등이 참석해 출범을 함께 축하했다.

Gyeonggi Provincial Council Vice Chairperson Jeong Yoon-kyung (Democratic Party of Korea, Gunpo District 1) attended the opening ceremony of the Gyeonggi Province Migrant Women's Counseling Center in Gunpo City on August 28th. Vice Chairperson Jeong stated, "Gyeonggi Province has the largest population of migrant women in the country, and local governments bear a significant policy responsibility." She also played a leading role in the enactment of the "Gyeonggi Province Violence Victims Support Ordinance," which helped bring the center to fruition.
Vice Chairperson Jeong Yoon-gyeong stated, "The fact that a significant number of counseling cases at the Seoul and Incheon Counseling Centers were from Gyeonggi Province residents clearly demonstrates the need for a provincial counseling center." She added, "Today's opening is not simply the opening of a facility; it marks a significant starting point for protecting the human rights of migrant women in Gyeonggi Province and providing practical support."
She also expressed her expectations for Asia Chang, the non-profit organization responsible for operating the center, saying, "With roots in Gunpo, Asia Chang has been a leader in supporting migrant women, children, and workers for over 30 years. It will continue to play a role in bringing hope to each and every victim."
Concluding, Vice Chairperson Jeong Yoon-gyeong stated, "We will do our utmost to protect women's rights and interests. We will continue to work with you to ensure that the center becomes a practical control tower that supports the safety and respect of migrant women in Gyeonggi Province." The opening ceremony was attended by Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Lee Hak-young, provincial council members Kim Jin-myeong and Seong Bok-im, officials from Asia's Window, officials from Gyeonggi Provincial Government, civil society organizations, and immigrant women themselves, who celebrated the launch together.
