본 행사는 대구경북경제자유구역청(이하 DGFEZ)이 주최하고, 포항TP와 (사)포항바이오산업협회가 공동 주관했다. 이번 세미나는 국내외 바이오산업의 급속한 성장 속에서, 수도권에 집중된 임상시험 및 기술사업화 인프라로 발생하는 지역 격차를 해소하고자 기획됐다.
1부에서는 칠곡경북대학교병원 이호원 교수의 기조연설 ‘지역 기반 협력을 통한 바이오 임상혁신의 미래’로 시작했으며, DGFEZ, 포항시, 포항TP, 칠곡경북대학교병원, 에스포항병원, (사)포항바이오산업협회가 참여한 지역 내 임상 협력체계 구축을 위한 서면 업무협약(MOU)도 체결됐다.
특히 이번 업무협약(MOU)을 통해 산·학·연·병 유관기관 간 협력으로 신약 개발, 의료기기 시험, 치료법 검증 등 지역 바이오기업의 스케일업 및 기술사업화 경쟁력 강화에 기여 할 예정이다.
2부에서는 ▲‘Muscle and Health – 혁신의 기회’(에스포항병원 박덕호 연구소장) ▲‘디지털치료제와 디지털디바이스’(㈜지엘 김도현 대표) ▲‘바이오 투자동향’(IBK벤처투자 곽용도 팀장) ▲‘알츠하이머병 신약개발’(쓰리브룩스테라퓨틱스㈜ 김성영 대표) 등의 발표가 이어졌다.
발표자들은 의료현장의 실제 수요, 디지털 기술 기반 신제품 개발, 기술성 기반 투자 동향, 퇴행성 뇌질환 치료 기술의 임상 진입 전략 등을 공유하며, 병원과 기업이 실제로 협업할 수 있는 구체적 영역을 제시했다.
이날 행사에는 바이오·의료 기업 관계자, 병원 및 연구기관, (사)포항바이오산업협회 회원사 등 약 100여 명이 참석했으며, 지역 기반 임상 인프라 활용 방안, 디지털 헬스케어 기술 현장 적용 가능성, 스타트업 투자 연계 전략 등 다양한 주제를 놓고 심도 있는 논의를 이어갔다.
배영호 포항TP 원장은 ‘이번 세미나는 단순한 정보 공유를 넘어, 지역 바이오기업이 실제 임상시험에 진입하고 기술사업화로 이어질 수 있는 기반을 함께 설계하는 자리였다’며, ‘포항TP는 앞으로도 임상·기술·투자·네트워크를 아우르는 바이오 협력 허브로서 지역 산업 생태계에 실질적인 기여를 이어갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.

Pohang TP Successfully Concludes '2025 DGFEZ Biotech Scale-Up Seminar'
Pohang Technopark (President Bae Young-ho, hereinafter Pohang TP) announced on the 3rd that it held the '2025 DGFEZ Biotech Scale-Up Seminar' at the Pohang TP Multipurpose Auditorium on the 2nd. The goal was to promote technology sharing, network activation, and strengthen technology commercialization capabilities in the local medical and biotech industries.
The event was hosted by the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority (hereinafter DGFEZ) and co-organized by Pohang TP and the Pohang Biotechnology Industry Association. Amid the rapid growth of the domestic and international biotech industry, this seminar was designed to address the regional gap arising from the concentration of clinical trials and technology commercialization infrastructure in the metropolitan area.
Part 1 began with a keynote speech by Professor Lee Ho-won of Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital, titled "The Future of Bio-Clinical Innovation through Regional Collaboration." A written Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed to establish a regional clinical collaboration system among DGFEZ, Pohang City, Pohang Technology Partnership, Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital, S-Pohang Hospital, and the Pohang Bio Industry Association.
This MOU will contribute to strengthening the scale-up and technology commercialization competitiveness of local biotech companies through collaboration among industry, academia, research, and hospital-related organizations, including new drug development, medical device testing, and treatment validation.
Part 2 featured presentations on ▲"Muscle and Health – Opportunities for Innovation" (Park Deok-ho, Research Director, Spohang Hospital), ▲"Digital Therapeutics and Digital Devices" (Kim Do-hyun, CEO, GL Co., Ltd.), ▲"Bio Investment Trends" (Kwak Yong-do, Team Leader, IBK Venture Investment), and ▲"Alzheimer's Disease Drug Development" (Kim Seong-young, CEO, Threebrook Therapeutics Co., Ltd.).
The presenters shared practical medical needs, digital technology-based new product development, technology-based investment trends, and clinical entry strategies for degenerative brain disease treatment technologies. They also proposed specific areas of collaboration between hospitals and companies.
Approximately 100 participants, including bio and medical industry representatives, hospitals, research institutes, and members of the Pohang Bio Industry Association, attended the event. They engaged in in-depth discussions on a variety of topics, including ways to utilize regional clinical infrastructure, the potential application of digital healthcare technologies, and strategies for connecting with startup investments.
Pohang TP Director Bae Young-ho said, “This seminar was more than just information sharing; it was a place to design a foundation for local bio companies to enter actual clinical trials and lead to technology commercialization,” and added, “Pohang TP will continue to make practical contributions to the local industrial ecosystem as a bio cooperation hub encompassing clinical trials, technology, investment, and networks.”
