【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청(교육감 임종식)이 ‘제3회 경상북도교육감기 장애학생체육대회’를 연다고 5일 밝혔다.
올해 세 번째로 열리는 이번 대회는 오는 11일 문경실내체육관 일원에서 진행되며 도내 초·중·고 특수학교(급) 학생과 지도교사, 체육지도자 등 800여 명이 참석한다.
장애학생들에게 도전과 성취, 자신감을 높일 기회를 제공하고, 내년 전국장애학생체육대회에 출전할 경북 대표 선수 선발과 신인 선수 발굴, 체육 저변 확대를 목적으로 한다.
경북교육청은 지난 5월부터 경상북도장애인체육회와 협의회를 이어오며 대회 운영 방안을 논의해왔으며, 교육지원청 장애학생 체육업무 담당자 회의도 두 차례 열었다.
또한 스포츠안전재단의 안전 컨설팅을 받아 시설·장비·운영 전반에 대한 진단과 개선 권고 사항을 반영하는 등 안전 확보에 주력했다.
특히 경기장 내 구급차와 의료진을 배치하고, 교육지원청별 지원 교사를 운영해 경기 중 발생할 수 있는 돌발 상황에 대비했다. 지난달 27일 문경 온누리스포츠센터에서 열린 2차 대표자 회의에서는 대진표 확정, 경기장 배치, 응급 상황 대응 방안을 최종 점검했다.
임종식 교육감은 “이번 대회를 통해 학생들이 자신의 가능성을 발견하고 더 넓은 세상과 연결되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 장애학생 체육 활동 확대와 맞춤형 지원으로 누구나 꿈꾸고 함께 성장할 수 있는 교육환경을 만들어가겠다”고 말했다.
