세종시가 장기화된 가뭄으로 고통받는 강릉시를 돕기 위해 2리터 생수 2만 병을 긴급 지원한다고 8일 밝혔다.
기상 관측이 시작된 1911년 이래 114년 만에 가장 적은 강우량을 기록하며 생활용수 확보에 어려움을 겪고 있는 강릉시에 도움이 될 전망이다.
강릉시는 지난 8월 말까지 내린 강우량이 404㎜에 그쳐 주 식수원인 오봉저수지의 저수율이 13%대까지 떨어졌다.
이로 인해 농업용수 공급이 중단되었고, 시민들의 생활용수 공급에도 비상이 걸린 상태다. 세종시는 재해구호기금을 활용해 물 부족 문제 해결을 위한 지원에 나섰다.
이번 물 나눔 운동에는 세종시 관내 공공기관들의 자발적인 참여도 이어졌다.
세종도시교통공사가 세종사회복지공동모금회에 100만 원을 지정 기탁할 예정이며, 세종로컬푸드㈜와 세종테크노파크도 각각 50만 원 상당의 생수를 지원하기로 했다.
