[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산 직업계고등학교 학생들이 지난 20일부터 27일까지 광주광역시에서 개최된 제60회 전국 기능경기대회에서 역대 최고 성적을 거두며 직업교육의 저력을 과시했다.
역대 최다 메달 획득과 기관 종합 1위
부산광역시교육청 선수단은 이번 대회에서 15개 직종에 걸쳐 뛰어난 기량을 선보였으며, 금메달 9개, 은메달 6개, 동메달 8개 등 총 23개의 메달을 획득해 역대 최다 메달 기록을 세웠다.
특히, 부산기계공업고등학교는 전체 250개 참가 기관 중 종합 1위를 차지하며 금탑을 수상하는 기염을 토했다. 부산기계공고는 '기계설계/CAD' 직종에서 유예준 선수의 금메달을 포함해 은메달 2개를 추가하며 한 종목에서만 3개의 메달을 획득했다. 또한 '배관' 직종에서 오동근 학생이 금메달을 획득하는 등 금메달 5, 은메달 3, 동메달 1, 장려 8의 우수한 성적으로 종합 우승의 영예를 안았다.
다양한 직종에서 금메달 쏟아져
다른 학교에서도 괄목할 만한 성과를 이뤘다. 경남공업고등학교의 김도영, 최민준 학생이 '모바일로보틱스' 직종에서 금메달을 목에 걸었으며, 동의고등학교 김도원 학생은 '판금철골구조물' 직종, 금샘고등학교 정재영 학생은 '전기기기' 직종에서 각각 금메달을 차지했다.

또한 이번 대회가 첫 출전임에도 불구하고 부산보건고등학교의 손선웅(제빵), 영산고등학교의 배여주(요리), 부일전자디자인고등학교의 정지윤(웹디자인) 학생이 동메달을 수상하는 등 특정 학교나 종목에 국한되지 않고 부산 직업계고 전체에서 고르게 우수한 성적을 달성했다는 점에서 더욱 큰 의미를 찾을 수 있다.
김석준 부산교육감은 "이번 대회에서 부산 학생들이 거둔 최고의 성적은 학생들의 노력과 열정, 그리고 함께 지도한 교육현장의 헌신의 결과"라며, "앞으로도 특성화고 및 마이스터고에 대한 지속적인 지원을 통해 학생들이 자신의 잠재력을 마음껏 발휘할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.

Busan vocational high school students showcased their outstanding skills at the 60th National Skills Competition, held in Gwangju from September 20th to 27th, recording their highest-ever performance and demonstrating the strength of vocational education in the city.
Record-Breaking Medals and Institutional Triumph
The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education delegation earned a record-breaking 23 medals across 15 categories, including 9 gold, 6 silver, and 8 bronze medals.
Notably, Busan Mechanical Technical High School took the Gold Tower award for ranking 1st overall among the 250 participating institutions. The school’s success was particularly marked in the 'Mechanical Design/CAD' category, where Yu Ye-jun won gold, and two other students, Choi Hee-jun and Kang Ki-beom, won silver, securing three medals in a single event. With additional wins, including Oh Dong-geun’s gold in 'Plumbing', the school finished with 5 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze, and 8 excellence awards.
Gold Medals Across Diverse Fields
Success was not confined to a single school. Kim Do-young and Choi Min-jun of Gyeongnam Technical High School won gold in 'Mobile Robotics'. Kim Do-won of Dong-ui High School won gold in 'Sheet Metal Work', and Jeong Jae-young of Geumsaem High School won gold in 'Electrical Installations'.
Furthermore, students making their first appearance at the competition also excelled: Son Seon-ung (Baking) from Busan Health High School, Bae Yeo-ju (Cooking) from Youngsan High School, and Jeong Ji-yun (Web Design) from Buil Electronics Design High School all secured bronze medals. This broad success across various schools and disciplines is seen by the Busan education office as a particularly significant achievement.
Commitment to Ongoing Support
Busan Superintendent of Education, Kim Seok-jun, stated, "The best-ever results achieved by Busan students at this competition are the result of their hard work, passion, and the dedication of the educational field that guided them." He added, "We will continue to provide sustained support for specialized and Meister high schools to ensure students can fully realize their potential."
