이번 프로그램은 산불 피해지의 생태 복원과 지역 관광 경기 활성화를 위해 추진 중인 ‘영덕 리부트(Reboot) 캠페인’의 일환으로, 지난 5~6월 진행된 1차 행사에는 3,860명이 참여해 진달래 묘목 2만2천여 주를 식재한 바 있다.
2차 프로그램은 ‘다가치 영덕으로 착한여행’이라는 슬로건 아래, 영덕군과 영덕문화관광재단이 공동 주관한다. 매주 토요일과 일요일 오전 10시부터 오후 4시까지 진행되며, 20명 이상 단체는 전화 예약을 통해 평일 참여도 가능하다.
이번 시즌에는 주 행사인 진달래심기 외에도 클래식 버스킹 공연, 즉석 사진 인화, 무료 공예 체험, 타임캡슐 프로그램 등 다양한 부대행사가 마련돼 참가자들에게 즐길 거리와 추억을 제공할 예정이다.
특히, 이번에 심어질 진달래 묘목은 국립백두대간수목원 종자연구센터에서 지원한 국내 자생 식물 종자 9천 본으로, 산불 피해지 생태 복원에 의미를 더한다.
