파주시의회가 기후위기로 어려움을 겪고 있는 지역 농업을 지원하기 위한 제도적 기반을 마련했다.
시의회는 손형배 의원이 대표 발의한 「파주시 기후변화 대비 작물 육성 및 지원 조례안」을 제260회 정례회 도시산업위원회에서 원안 가결했다고 28일 밝혔다.

최근 이상기후와 폭염·냉해, 태풍 등 극한기후 현상이 심화되면서 파주 지역 농업의 생산 불안정과 농가 소득 감소가 심각한 문제로 대두되고 있다.
이에 따라 기후변화에 적합한 작물을 발굴·육성하고 농가의 안정적 소득 기반을 마련하기 위한 제도적 대응이 시급한 상황이었다.
이번 조례안은 기후변화에 체계적으로 대응하기 위한 작물 육성 및 지원 체계 구축을 핵심 내용으로 담고 있다.
주요 내용을 살펴보면, 시장의 책무를 명시하고 행·재정적 지원 근거를 마련했다.
