파주시가 지난 28일 운정중앙역 문화공연 콤플렉스 조성을 위한 2차 보고회를 개최 했다.
이날 보고회에는 김경일 파주시장과 관련 분야 전문가, 파주문화재단 관계자 등 15명이 참석해 전문 공연장의 전용 용도와 규모 설정에 대해 심도 있는 논의를 진행했다.

이번 보고회는 착수보고회 이후 실시한 시민 설문조사 결과를 반영한 기본구상과 분석 내용을 바탕으로 이뤄졌다.
특히 뮤지컬, 대중음악, 클래식 등 전문 공연장의 전용 용도 검토와 좌석 수 및 공연장 구성안 비교 평가 등 사업의 핵심 방향을 결정하는 중요한 자리였다.
파주시는 GTX-A 운정중앙역 개통에 따른 광역 접근성 향상과 운정신도시의 급격한 인구 증가를 고려할 때, 이번 전문 공연장이 지역 문화 수요에 대응하고 파주시의 문화 경쟁력을 높이는 핵심 기반 시설이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
시는 2차 보고회에서 논의된 내용을 바탕으로 세부 공간계획, 타당성 분석, 운영모델, 재원 조달 방안 등을 더욱 정교화해 실현 가능성이 높은 기본계획을 마련할 계획이다.
이를 통해 GTX 시대에 걸맞은 문화공연 콤플렉스 조성을 본격적으로 추진한다는 방침이다.
김경일 파주시장은 "전문 공연장의 전용 용도와 규모 결정은 이번 사업의 성패를 좌우하는 가장 중요한 단계"라며 "시민 중심의 공론화와 면밀한 검토를 통해 파주시 문화의 새로운 기준이 될 최적안을 도출하겠다"고 밝혔다.
한편 파주시는 지난 10월 24일 착수보고회를 개최하고 2026년 3월까지 타당성 조사 및 기본계획 수립 용역을 진행 중이다.
이번 사업은 운정중앙역 역세권에 1천 석 이상의 전문 공연장을 비롯해 전시장, 체험장 등 다양한 문화시설을 건립하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.
