이재명 대통령이 22일 “우리가 이룬 경제·정치·문화적 성취는 모두 어르신 희생·헌신 위에 세워졌다는 사실을 잘 알고 있다”고 했다.
이 대통령은 이날 낮 '어르신이 걸어온 길, 우리가 이어갈 길'을 주제로 청와대에서 열린 대한노인회 초청 오찬 행사 모두 발언에서 “한국 전쟁 이후 해외 원조에 의존하던 최빈국 대한민국이 이젠 세계가 주목하는 선진국이 됐다”며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 “의료·노동 같은 기본 복지는 더욱 촘촘히 하되 뭣보다 어르신 경험·지혜를 사회적 자산으로 발휘할 수 있는 또 하나의 대전환을 만들어 가겠다”며 "2025년 대한민국은 노인 인구가 전체 인구 20퍼센트를 넘어서는 초고령 사회에 진입했으며 이젠 어르신 정책이 곧 국민 모두를 위한 정책이 됐다”고 했다.
