2026년 병오년 새해가 밝았다. 유난히 힘들었던 2025년이 지났으나, 지난해 불거진 내란은 아직종결되지 않았다. 우리는 여전히 새해에도 내란을 극복하는 일에 공동체의 에너지를 써야하는 처지이다. 그러나 2026년의 새로운 태양은 떠올랐고 우리 국민은 말 처럼 힘차게 뛰어갈 것이다.
지난 한해 우리 국민은 힘들고 황망했다. 집권자가 저지른 초유의 내란사태에 맞섰고, 뻔뻔한 통일교와 쿠팡 사건을 보아야했다. 윤석열 전 대통령과 한학자 통인\일교 총재와 김범석 쿠팡의장의 공통점은 국민을 무시하고 제왕적 행세를 하는 초법적 갑질의 행태이다.
윤석열은 반헌법적 내란을 일으키고도 반성과 사과도 없이 국론분열에 앞장서고 있다. 재판은 지연되고 극렬 지지층은 공화제를 무너뜨리려 하고 있다. 광화문 한복판에 나부끼는 성조기는 무엇을 뜻하는가? 광복과 산업화, 민주화의 모범국가의 운명을 미국에 맡기고 싶어하는 친미 사대주의의 깃발이 세종대왕과 이순신 장군의 정신이 깃든 광화문을 더럽히고 있다.
통일교의 행태도 기관이다. 우리 정치의 퇴행적 흐름에 통일교는 정경분리의 원칙을 어기고 정치에 개입했다. 과거 종교계의 정치 개입과 차원이 달랐다. 과거 보수 기독교와 불교계, 사이비 종교의 정교 유착은 조직 또는 개인 보호용이었다. 특정 정당과 정치인을 지지하는 대신 특혜와 지원을 되돌려받는 수준이었다. 그러나 통일교는 윤석열을 대리인으로 세우고자 국민의힘 경선과 대선에 개입했다. 통일교가 청와대에 입성할 것이라는 통일교 전직 고위관계자의 발언은 타락한 종교의 어두운 단면을 드러냈다. 우리는 지금 단군왕검 시대에 살고 있는가? '대한민국은 민주공화국이고 모든 권력은 국민으로부터 나온다'는 헌법의 가치를 믿는 우리가 순진했던 것인가?
쿠팡의 행태에도 분노한다. 3370만명의 고객 정보 유출을 일으키고도 온갖 변명을 늘어놓다가 29일만에 김범석 대표가 형식적으로 사과했다. 독과점 기업의 위세로 국민과 정부를 겁박했다. 미국 유력 정치인들이 나서 대한민국 정부에 압력을 행사하는 지경에 이르렀다. 쿠팡에게 대한민국은 그냥 돈 벌어주는 영업장이었던가? 한국에서 번 돈으로 미국 정치인들에게 로비해서 한국 정부를 압박하는 쿠팡은 어떤 기업인가?
윤석열과 통일교, 쿠팡의 배신에도 우리 국민은 말처럼 힘차게 달릴 것이다. 군사독재를 극복한 힘으로, 민주공화정을 지켜낸 힘으로 민주와 평화, 번영의 길을 힘차게 달릴 것이다. 병오년 말띠해 대한국민의 희망찬 도약을 소망한다.

We are still in a position where we must devote our collective energy to overcoming the civil war in the new year. However, a new sun has risen in 2026, and our people will gallop forward with strength like a horse.
Last year, our people endured hardship and despair. We faced an unprecedented civil war perpetrated by those in power, and we witnessed the shameless scandals of the Unification Church and Coupang. What former President Yoon Seok-yeol, Han Hak-ja, president of the Unification Church and the Coupang Group, and Kim Beom-seok, chairman of Coupang, have in common is their unconstitutional and imperialistic behavior, disregarding the people and acting like tyrants.
Yoon Seok-yeol, despite instigating an unconstitutional civil war, has not reflected on it or apologized, and is leading the charge to divide public opinion. The trial is delayed, and extreme supporters are attempting to destroy the republic. What does the American flag fluttering in the center of Gwanghwamun mean? The pro-American, subservient flag, which seeks to entrust the fate of a model nation for liberation, industrialization, and democratization to the United States, is defiling Gwanghwamun, which embodies the spirit of King Sejong and Admiral Yi Sun-sin.
The Unification Church's actions are also an institution. Amidst the regressive currents of our politics, the Unification Church violated the principle of separation of politics and economy and intervened in politics. This was a different level of political intervention from the religious community in the past. In the past, collusion between conservative Christians, Buddhists, and pseudo-religious groups served as a means of protecting the organization or individuals. It was limited to supporting specific political parties and politicians in exchange for preferential treatment and support. However, the Unification Church interfered in the People Power Party primary and presidential election to install Yoon Seok-yeol as its representative. The statement by a former high-ranking Unification Church official that the Unification Church would enter the Blue House revealed the dark side of a corrupt religion. Are we now living in the era of Dangun Wanggeom? Were we naive, believing in the constitutional values that "the Republic of Korea is a democratic republic and all power emanates from the people"?
We are also outraged by Coupang's behavior. Despite leaking the personal information of 33.7 million customers, they made numerous excuses before finally issuing a formal apology 29 days later, CEO Kim Beom-seok. They used their monopoly power to intimidate the people and the government. It even reached the point where influential American politicians were pressuring the South Korean government. Was South Korea simply a money-making operation for Coupang? What kind of company is Coupang, using its Korean earnings to lobby American politicians and pressure the South Korean government?
Despite the betrayal of Yoon Seok-yeol, the Unification Church, and Coupang, our people will gallop forward like a horse. With the strength that overcame military dictatorship and protected our democratic republic, we will gallop vigorously down the path to democracy, peace, and prosperity. We hope for a hopeful leap forward for the South Korean people in the Year of the Horse.
