이재명 대통령이 5일 "수도권 포화가 심화할수록 지방 소멸은 가속화될 것이며 국토 활용 비효율성이 높아지면서 잠재성장률도 떨어질 수밖에 없다"고 밝혔다.
이 대통령은 이날 오후 청와대에서 열린 제22차 수석보좌관회의 모두 발언에서 "전 국토 12%에 불과한 수도권이 인구·자원을 소용돌이처럼 빨아들이는 일극 체제는 더 방치할 수 없고 방치해서도 안 되는 상황"이라며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "지난해 수도·비수도권 인구 격차가 무려 100만 명이 넘었다"며 "수도권 인구가 지방 인구 대비 100만 명 많아졌다는 건데 수도권이 비수도권 인구를 초월한 지 6년 만의 일인데 엄청 빠른 속도"라고 했다.
또 "이미 한계에 도달한 수도권 중심 성장에서 지방 주도 성장으로의 대전환을 통한 국토 공간의 균형적 이용은 경제 성장판을 다시 열고 지속 가능한 국가 발전 토대를 쌓는 가장 확실한 길"이라며 "망국적 부동산 문제 근본 해결도 수도권 일극 체제 타파에 달려있다"고 했다.
