[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시가좌사회복지관은 3일 정여원·정수민 학생이 어려운 이웃을 위해 써달라며 1000만 원의 후원금을 전달했다고 밝혔다.
남매인 두 학생은 평소 열악한 환경 속에서도 학업을 이어가는 또래 친구들을 보며 도움을 주고 싶다는 마음을 키워온 것으로 전해졌다.
이들은 그동안 차곡차곡 모아온 용돈을 의미 있게 사용하고자 뜻을 모았으며, 학생 신분으로 실천할 수 있는 나눔의 방법을 고민한 끝에 기탁을 결정했다.
복지관은 두 학생의 소중한 뜻이 잘 전달될 수 있도록 내부 심의를 거쳐 지원 대상자를 선정하고, 꼭 필요한 곳에 책임 있게 사용할 계획이다.
정여원 학생은 “성실히 공부하는 친구들을 보며 늘 존경스러웠다”며 “동생과 함께 마음을 모은 만큼 작은 힘이나마 보탬이 되길 바란다”고 전했다.
