[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 영화진흥위원회는 24일 부산영상위원회에서 MBC C&I, 부산영상위원회, 부천국제판타스틱영화제와 함께 영화·영상 산업의 AI 인재 양성을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.
이번 협약은 빠르게 변화하는 산업 환경에 대응하고 AI 기반 콘텐츠 제작 역량을 강화하기 위한 것으로, 지역 중심의 AI 창작 인력 양성 및 공동 교육과 연구개발이 주요 내용이다.
네 기관은 지역 AI 영화·영상 인력 양성과 인프라 구축, AI 콘텐츠 상영과 홍보, AI 기술 고도화를 위한 연구개발 등에서 긴밀히 협력하기로 했다.
영화진흥위원회는 한국영화아카데미를 통해 생성형 AI 도구 활용, 시나리오 작성, 캐릭터 개발, 후반 작업, 단편 실습을 포함한 첨단 영화제작 교육을 지속해왔다. 이 과정에서 제작된 AI 단편 ‘시구문’은 2025년 서울국제AI필름페스타에서 대상을 수상하는 성과를 거뒀다.
위원회는 또한 AI영화기술TF를 신설해 AI 기반 영화 제작 기술 표준화, 제작 지원, 버추얼 스튜디오 구축 등 차세대 인프라 사업을 추진 중이다.
한상준 위원장은 “AI 기술은 영화 제작 방식과 산업 구조를 근본적으로 바꾸고 있다”며 “이번 협약과 전담 조직 신설을 계기로 한국 영화 산업이 새로운 환경에 능동적으로 대응할 수 있도록 지원을 강화하겠다”고 밝혔다.
영화진흥위원회는 앞으로 AI 교육, 제작 지원, 기술 연구, 인재 양성, 산업 협력이 유기적으로 연결된 통합형 AI 영화 생태계를 조성하고, 교육을 통해 배출된 창작자들이 실제 현장에 안착할 수 있도록 상영 및 연구 지원 사업을 확대할 계획이다.
KOFIC Signs MOU with Four Institutions to Foster AI Talent in the Film Industry
The Korean Film Council (KOFIC) signed a memorandum of understanding on March 24 with MBC C&I, the Busan Film Commission, and the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival to foster AI talent in the film and video industry.
The agreement aims to strengthen capabilities in AI-based content creation and keep pace with the rapidly changing media landscape. The four organizations will collaborate on developing regional AI filmmaking talent, building infrastructure, promoting AI-produced content, and conducting joint research and development.
KOFIC has been offering advanced filmmaking programs through the Korean Academy of Film Arts, covering every stage of production—from generative AI tools and scriptwriting to character design, post-production, and short film practice. One AI short film produced through the program, *Sigumun*, won the Grand Prize at the 2025 Seoul International AI Film Festa.
The council also established an AI Film Technology Task Force to systematize policies related to AI filmmaking. The new team oversees the introduction of new technologies, standard development, AI production support, and the construction of next-generation infrastructure such as virtual studios.
Chairman Han Sang-jun said, “AI technology is transforming not only how films are made but also the structure of the entire industry. Based on our accumulated experience in AI education and technology, we’ll continue to help the Korean film industry actively adapt to this new environment.”
KOFIC plans to build an integrated AI film ecosystem that connects education, production support, research, talent development, and industry collaboration, ensuring that creators trained through its programs can take root in real production environments.
