대구시교육청, 과밀학급 해소 위해 교실 증축 추진

대구시교육청(강은희 교육감)은 과밀학급 해소를 위해 2023년까지 361억원을 투입하여 증축에 나선다고 밝혔다.

교실 증축에 필요한 예산은 교육청 243억, 대구시 118억을 부담하며, 공동주택개발에 따른 장래 학생유입에 대하여는 사업시행자 부담을 통해 별도 증축을 추진한다.

그 외에도 기존 시설 내 전용교실 확보가 가능한 학교에 대하여는 우선적으로 학급을 증설하여 학생 과밀을 해소하고, 중ㆍ고등학교는 단계적으로 학급당 배정인원을 28명 이하로 낮추는 한편 비선호학교에 대한 교육사업 우선지원, 우수교원 배치 등 학생 분산을 위한 다양한 교육 경쟁력 확보방안을 시행할 계획이다.

대구교육청 관계자는 “최근 코로나19의 확산세가 거세지고 있어 확보된 예산을 상반기에 조기 집행하여 학생 방역 여건과 교육 환경이 빠른 시일 내에 개선이 되도록 노력하겠다.”고 말했다.
