브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 윤석열 국민의힘 대선후보와 이준석 당 대표간 갈등이 극적으로 봉합됐다.
윤석열 후보와 이준석 대표는 6일 오후 여의도 국회 예결위회의장에서 가진 비공개 의원총회에서 극적인 화해 무드를 형성했다.
이날 오전부터 진행된 의총은 '이준석 사퇴 결의안' 초안이 완성돼 통과만 목적에 둘 정도로 분위기가 좋지 않았다. 의총 참석 의원 대부분이 이준석 대표 사퇴에 찬성 입장하는 것으로 알려졌다.
이날 오후 6시경 다시 재개된 의총에서는 이준석 대표가 참석해 의원들과 설전이 오갔다. 이후 7시50분 경 윤석열 후보가 모습을 드러낸 이후부터 의총장 분위기는 달라졌다.
당 관계자에 따르면 윤 후보는 이준석 대표와 김기현 원내대표등과 따로 만나 30여분간 이야기를 나눴고, 이날 오후 8시 20분 경 공개된 의총장에서는 의원들이 '윤석열'을 연호하는 등 분위기가 180도 달라졌다.
먼저 단상에 오른 이준석 대표는 그간 당과 선대위, 그리고 윤 후보를 향했던 날카로운 비판의 목소리는 내지 않았다.
그는 그간의 갈등 국면에 대해 "제 잘못이기 하고, 때로는 정권교체라는 큰 대의를 위해 모이기는 했지만 아직까지 서로 완벽하게 동지로서 기능 못한 저희 팀의 문제일수도 있다"며 "저는 이 자리에서 원팀 선언을 하겠다"고 밝혔다.
이어 "앞으로 당원의 하나로서, 정말 당대표라는 권위나 자리가 필요한 게 아니라 솔선수범하는 자세로 선거를 뛰겠다"며 "당사에서 숙식을 해결하겠다. 내일 당사에, 김종인 위원장이 계시던 방 한켠에 제 침대를 하나 놔달라"고 요청했다.

윤석열 후보도 이날 하루 격정적이었던 의총 분위기에 대해 "당 대표도 그동안의 본인 소회를 다 말하셨고, 의원들도 하고 싶은 이야기를 다 한 걸로 안다"며 "이제 다 잊어버리자. 오로지 3월 대선과 6월 지방선거 승리를 위해, 그 승리를 통해 우리당을 재건하자"고 목소리를 높였다.
윤 후보는 이어 "국민에 행복한 미래를 약속할 수 있는 그런 수권정당으로, 다시 저의 위치를 회복할 수 있도록 다 함께 뛰자"고 말하자, 의원들은 "다시 시작", "초심으로" 등을 외치며 윤 후보의 각오에 화답했다.
윤 후보는 의총 직후 '극적 화해 배경이 무엇인가'라고 묻는 기자의 질문에 "화해라고 할 것도 없다. 피는 물보다 진하다고 하다. 저희는 피 같은 같은 당원이다. 국민의힘에 같이 뼈를 묻기로 함께 하기로 한 사람"이라고 했다.
이준석 대표는 '극적 화해가 지지율 반등으로 이어질 것으로 생각하느냐'는 질문엔 "제가 지난 2~3주 동안 비판자의 역할로서 있었던 상황에서 바라봤을 때, 거꾸로 제가 축적해온 것도 있다"면서 "선거에 다시 뛰어들게 되면 '꼭 이런 것은 해야겠다'고 생각한게 있다. 윤 후보를 잘 도우면서 제가 분에 넘치게 방관자의 시점에서 관찰한 것들을 꼭 바뀌고 개선될 수 있도록 진정성 있게 후보와 소통하겠다"고 말했다.
이 대표는 '향후에도 다시 갈등이 재발할 가능성은 없느냐'는 질문에는 "벌써부터 그런 질문을 하는 것은 너무 가혹하지 않냐"며 웃어넘겼다.

The conflict between Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate for the power of the people, and Lee Joon-seok, the leader of the party, has been dramatically sealed.
Candidate Yoon Seok-yeol and CEO Lee Joon-seok formed a dramatic mood of reconciliation at a closed general meeting of lawmakers held at the National Assembly's preliminary committee meeting in Yeouido on the afternoon of the 6th.
The general meeting, which began in the morning that day, was so bad that the draft "Lee Joon-seok's Resolution to Resign" was completed that it was only for the purpose of passing. Most of the lawmakers attending the parliamentary meeting are reportedly in favor of Lee Joon-seok's resignation.
Representative Lee Joon-seok attended the meeting, which resumed around 6 p.m. that day, and had a war of words with lawmakers. Since then, the atmosphere of the president has changed since candidate Yoon Seok-yeol appeared around 7:50 p.m.
According to party officials, candidate Yoon met separately with CEO Lee Joon-seok and floor leader Kim Ki-hyun for about 30 minutes, and at around 8:20 p.m., lawmakers shouted "Yoon Seok-yeol" at the meeting.
Lee Joon-seok, who first took the podium, has not voiced sharp criticism toward the party, its predecessor, and candidate Yoon.
Regarding the conflict so far, he said, "It's my fault, and sometimes we've gathered for a big cause of regime change, but it may be a problem for our team that has not yet functioned perfectly as a comrade," adding, "I'll declare the original team here."
"As one of the party members in the future, I don't really need the authority or position as a party leader, but I will run the election with an initiative," he said adding, "We will settle the accommodation and meals at our company." "Please put my bed on the side of the room where Chairman Kim Jong-in was located tomorrow," he asked the company.
Candidate Yoon Seok-yeol also said about the passionate atmosphere of the parliamentary meeting that day, "I know that the party leader has said all his thoughts so far, and that lawmakers have said everything they wanted to say," adding, "Let's forget everything now. "Let's rebuild the Uri Party solely for the victory of the presidential election in March and the local election in June," he said.
Candidate Yoon went on to say, "Let's all play together to restore my position as such an authoritative party that can promise a happy future to the people," and lawmakers responded to candidate Yoon's determination, shouting "start again" and "from the beginning."
When asked by a reporter shortly after the parliamentary meeting, "What is the background of dramatic reconciliation?" candidate Yoon said, "There is nothing to say reconciliation." It is said that blood is thicker than water. We are blood-like party members. He is a person who decided to bury bones together with the power of the people, he said.
When asked if he thought dramatic reconciliation would lead to a rebound in approval ratings, CEO Lee Joon-seok said, "From what I've been doing as a critic for the past two to three weeks, I've accumulated something upside down," adding, "If I jump back into the election, I must do this." "I will help candidate Yoon well and sincerely communicate with the candidate so that what I have observed from the perspective of the bystander can be changed and improved," he said.
When asked, "Is there a possibility of a recurrence of conflict in the future?" CEO Lee laughed, saying, "Isn't it already too harsh to ask such a question?"
