김대중 전 대통령(1024-2009)의 정신을 요약한다면, ‘행동하는 양심’이랄 수 있다. 이 정신은 군사 독재에 저항해서 승리한 정신이었다. 행동하는 양심은 한국의 민주주의를 앞당기는 정신이기도 했다. 행동하는 양심은 박정희-전두환 군사정권에 대항하는 정신이었다. 철저하게 국민-대중 편에 선 것이었다.
그런데 윤석열 정부, 보수정권은 지도층들에서 ‘행동 하는 양심’이 줄을 잇고 있다. 윤석열 대통령은 취임과 동시에 대통령 집무실을 서울시 용산구로 옮겼다. 과거 청와대는 관광자원으로 활용, 방문자들이 줄을 잇고 있다. 그런가하면 집에서 출퇴근, 국가가 지출해야할 비용을 줄였다.
오세훈 서울시장은 서울시장 공관 마련을 하는데 시의 예산을 쓰지 않기로 했다. 서울시에 따르면, 오세훈 서울시장은 “별도의 시장 공관을 구하지 않고 현재 살고 있는 광진구 자양동 자택에서 출퇴근 할 것”이라고 했다. 오세훈 시장은 2021년 4·7 보궐선거에서시장으로 당선된 후 공관 없이 서울 광진구에서 시청까지 출퇴근 해 왔었다. 시의 예산을 줄이는 차원이었다.
