[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경상남도는 굴곡도로가 많아 교통사고가 잦았던 ‘지방도 1016호선’ 고성군 하이면 봉원리(봉원삼거리)에서 상리면 척번정리(척정교차로) 구간 확장공사의 실시설계를 8월 착수했다.

지방도 1016호선은 고성군과 사천시를 연결하는 지역 간선도로로, 일반 차량은 물론 발전소 대형차량의 이용이 많은 도로이다.

하지만, 좁은 폭과 구불구불한 도로선형 탓에 교통 지·정체 및 겨울철 잦은 결빙으로 인한 교통사고가 자주 발생하면서 도로 개선이 시급한 실정이었다.

이에 경남도는 지난해 12월 2021~2025년 경상남도 도로건설·관리계획에 해당 사업을 반영했다.

사업은 총 298억원 들여 봉원~상리 6.8㎞ 구간을 폭 13.7m로 기존 2차로에서 1차로를 추가로 확장한다는 계획이다.

이를 위해 실시설계를 착수해 2024년 2월에 완료하고, 순차적으로 토지보상과 공사를 착공해 2028년까지 사업을 완료할 예정이다.
