브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 미래에셋생명은 27일 보도자료를 통해 지난 26일 서울 용산구 이촌 한강공원에서 임직원 봉사단 20여 명이 참여한 가운데, 코로나로 지친 시민들을 위해 도심 속 숲을 조성하고, 미세먼지를 낮추기 위한 봉사활동 ‘한강에 숲을 선물합니다’를 진행했다고 밝혔다.
미래에셋생명은 2019년 비영리 환경단체인 서울그린트러스트, 서울시 한강사업본부와 업무 협약을 체결하고 이촌 한강공원에 2023년까지 3000㎡에 달하는 ‘미래에셋생명 숲’을 만들고 있다.
미래에셋생명 임직원들은 숲이 완공될 때까지 정기적으로 봉사활동을 진행하며 직접 나무를 심고, 잡초 제거와 비료 작업 등에 나서고 있다. ‘미래에셋생명 숲’은 수변인 한강공원에서 잘 서식하는 왕버드나무, 수양(능수)버들, 키버들 등의 버드나무 수종과 조팝나무로 조성한다.
숲이 조성되면 이촌 한강공원은 시민들에게 더욱 쾌적한 휴식환경을 제공할 것으로 기대된다. 용산역에서 도보 20분 거리인 이곳은 유동인구가 많지만, 습지대로 시민들을 위한 휴게공간이 부족하다. ‘미래에셋생명 숲’은 시민들의 휴식장소로 활용되는 것은 물론 근래 사회적 문제로 대두된 미세먼지 저감에도 큰 효과를 거둘 전망이다.
