박 지사는 31일 이태원 사고의 사망자들을 추도하는 묵념을 시작으로 실국본부장회의를 주재하고, 행사장, 관광시설에 대한 안전점검, 수학여행 교통안전 점검 등을 주문했다.

경남도는 30일에 이어 31일 아침 행정부지사 주재로 18개 시군이 참여하는 회의를 열고 애도기간 중 행사·축제의 축소 또는 취소를 권고하는 한편, 행사장 사전 안전점검 강화, 관람객 분산 및 경찰·소방 등 유관기관과의 현장대응 강화대책을 논의한 바 있다.
