세종시가 전국 지방자치단체 중 교통안전수준이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다.
15일 도로교통공단(이사장 이주민)이 발표한 '2021년도 교통안전지수'에 따르면 세종시가 최우수지역으로 선정됐다.
교통안전지수는 교통사고 빅데이터를 기반으로 기초지자체의 교통안전수준을 평가한 지수다.
공단은 안전지수를 인구, 도로연장 등 교통여건에 따라 4개의 그룹(인구 30만 이상 시, 인구 30만 미만 시, 군, 구)으로 나누고 A~E 5개 등급으로 평가했다.
평가에서 세종시는 보행자, 교통약자, 사업용차량, 자전거 등 6개 영역 18개 세부지표에서 높은 등급과 점수를 받았다.
그룹의 최우수 지역은 세종시(30만 이상 시), 과천시(30만 미만 시), 화천군(군), 인천 동구(구)로 분석됐다.
지난해 대비 교통안전지수 증감 비율을 나타내는 개선율은 김제시(30만 미만 시)가 21.07%로 가장 높았고, 이어서 김포시(30만 이상 시), 거창군(군), 강남구(구)순으로 나타났다.
