브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 롯데건설이 지난 17일 대한상공회의소에서 에쓰오일이 발주하는 국내 최대 규모의 석유화학 프로젝트 ‘샤힌 프로젝트’의 EPC(설계 조달 시공) 업체 선정 계약을 체결했다.
에쓰오일 샤힌 프로젝트 계약 체결은 롯데건설 하석주 대표이사와 에쓰오일 후세인 알 카타니 (Mr. hussain Al-Qahtan) 대표이사, 현대건설 윤영준 대표이사, 현대엔지니어링 홍현성 대표이사가 참석해 발주사와 컨소시엄 참여 기업간 서명식을 통해 진행됐다.
이번 프로젝트는 현대건설이 주간사로 롯데건설, 현대엔지니어링이 컨소시엄을 구성해 진행할 예정이며, 내년 초 착공해 2026년 준공할 계획이다.
에쓰오일의 샤힌 프로젝트는 국내 석유화학산업 사상 최대 규모로, 울산 일대에 에틸렌, 폴리에틸렌(PE)을 비롯한 석유화학제품 생산 설비를 구축하는 사업이다.
롯데건설은 이번 프로젝트의 패키지2와 패키지3에 참여하며, 패키지2는 석유화학 제품의 원료인 에틸렌을 생산하는 핵심 설비 ‘스팀 크래커’와 에틸렌을 활용해 폴리에틸렌(PE) 등 고부가가치 석유화학 제품을 생산하는 설비 ‘올레핀 다운스트림’ 건설한다. 패키지3은 에틸렌, 프로필렌을 저장하는 탱크설비 21기를 건설할 예정이다.
롯데건설 관계자는 “롯데건설은 해외 대규모 프로젝트인 인도네시아 LINE Project 사업을 교두보로 삼아 국내 석유화학 업계 사상 최대 규모인 샤힌 프로젝트 수주할 수 있었다”며 “앞으로도 이를 계기로 해외 외주 사업을 확대 진출할 것이다”라고 말했다.
한편, 롯데건설은 지난 1월 총 사업비 16억3100만불 규모의 인도네시아 LINE프로젝트를 수주했으며, 국내뿐 아니라 해외에서도 사업 경쟁력을 인정 받고 있다.
인도네시아 LINE 프로젝트는 총 사업비 39억불 규모로 인도네시아 수도인 자카르타에서 북서쪽으로 약 90km 떨어진 곳에 위치한 찔레곤 지역 약 99만여㎡ 부지에 초대형 석유화학단지를 조성하는 사업이다. 이 프로젝트는 2025년 완공을 목표로 한다. 완공되면 연간 에틸렌 100만 톤, 프로필렌(PL) 52만 톤, 폴리프로필렌(PP) 25만 톤, 부타디엔(BD) 14만 톤 등을 생산하게 된다.
