롯데케미칼 본사에서 이뤄진 이번 업무협약은 세계 기후 위기 시대 탄소중립을 선도하고 미래 청정에너지라 불리는 원자력 청정수소를 대량으로 생산·실증하기 위해 울진군에서 추진하고 있는 ‘울진 원자력 수소 국가산업단지 조성 사업’을 비롯한 ‘대규모 청정수소 생산실증단지 조성 예타 사업’을 위해 진행됐다.
이날 협약으로 울진 원자력 수소 국가산업단지 조성 시 사업 참여, 원자력 활용 고온수전해 청정수소 생산플랜트 구축, 암모니아 열분해수소 생산플랜트 구축 등 수소 관련 인프라 구축으로서 롯데케미칼은 울진 산단 내에서 원자력을 활용한 청정수소 생산·저장·운송 기술을 고도화할 예정이다.
롯데케미칼은 올해 5월에 ‘2030 미래비전 & 성장전략’을 발표하고 총 6조원을 투자해 2030년까지 청정수소 120만톤 생산과 매출 5조원을 달성하겠다는 목표를 발표하고 대규모 소비처, 대량 공급망, 친환경 기술 등 핵심역량을 기반으로 수소중심의 그린순환 생태계 조성에 기여하기 위한 청정수소 프로젝트 개발사업에 박차를 가하고 있다.
