김현옥·김효숙·안신일 의원은 지난 6일 홍성국 세종갑 국회의원과 강준현 세종을 국회의원을 만난 자리에서 ‘세종특별자치시 설치 등에 관한 특별법’ 일부개정법률안 추진 촉구 성명서를 제출하고 개정의 필요성과 당위성에 대해 설명했다.
김현옥 교육안전위원회 부위원장은 “세종의 경우 아동·청소년 비율이 23%가 넘고 도시 계획에 따라 학생 수가 꾸준히 증가하는 지역”이라며 “지방교육재정교부금 보정액이 올해 만료 예정이어서 세종 지역 학생들에게 꼭 필요한 교육 혜택이 줄어들까 걱정”이라고 말했다.
김효숙 의원은 “국가 균형발전 및 자치분권을 실현하고, 부족한 교육 지원 기반을 구축하기 위해서는 세종시 도시계획이 완성되는 오는 2030년까지 보정액 교부 기간 연장이 절실하다”고 덧붙였다.
또 세종시의회 예산결산특별위원장을 맡고 있는 안신일 의원도 “안정적 보정액 확보를 위해서는 보정범위의 하한선을 명시할 필요가 있다”며 “세종시 교육 발전을 위해 큰 관심을 갖고 최선의 노력을 다해온 지역구 국회의원들과 함께 앞으로도 꾸준한 소통을 통해 협업해 나가겠다”고 강조했다.
