별은 하늘에만 뜬다. 그러나 사람들의 가슴 속에서도 별은 뜬다. 모든 사람들에겐 ‘별의 순간’이 있다. 분명코, 나에게도 많은 ‘별의 순간’이 있었다.

인터넷 신문 브레이크뉴스 발행(오너) 20년 등등으로 세월을 보냈다. 그래서 올해로, 글쟁이 생활 도합 50년째인 것이다. 이 가운데 미국 뉴욕의 맨해튼에서 세칭 ‘반정부 기자’로서 5년을 보낸 것은 '별의 순간'이었다. 왜? 박정희-전두환으로 이어지는 군사독재 정권을 매일같이 비판했던 기자였기 때문이다.

필자에게는 20여권이 넘는 저서가 있다. 작가로서 쓰기 어려운 저서의 집필을 완성, 탈고 했을 때, 그때가 바로 '별의 순간'이었다. 필자는 뉴욕에서 집필했던 ‘비록 중앙정보부(전 3권)’를 대표 저서로 꼽는다. 이 책을 출간했을 당시도 '별의 순간'이었다.
필자는 실제로 농부였다. 전남 담양군 수북면 풍수리 동산골 마을, 문씨 집성촌은 대대로 농사를 지으면서 살아온 마을이었다. 그 마을에서 낳았고, 농업(실업)고등학교를 졸업했으니 고등학교 졸업 때까지는 농사꾼이었다. 군대를 제대한 이후 서울에 와서 대학을 졸업(강남대학)하고 본격적인 기자생활로 이어졌다.
농사꾼의 후예로서 농사일을 탈피했으니, 도시생활의 매 순간이 '별의 순간'이었을 수도 있다. 지금 이 순간에도, ‘별의 순간’이 이어지고 있다.
