[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 코스모스·메밀꽃과 더불어 우리나라 대표적인 봄·가을 축제장인 하동군 북천면 직전마을 들판에 꽃양귀비가 이상기후로 인해 일찍 꽃망울을 터트리기 시작해 붉은 자태를 한창 드러내고 있다.
하동군은 해 질 녘 석양의 노을을 옮겨 놓은 듯 1억 송이 꽃양귀비가 활짝 피어 들판을 수놓는 오는 19일∼29일 11일간 북천면 직전리 일원에서 제9회 꽃양귀비 축제를 개최한다고 9일 밝혔다.
그러나 예년에 비해 개화가 1주일 가량 일찍 시작돼 유료화 구간 행사장은 오는 13일부터 사전 개방한다.
입장료는 1인 1000원이다.
‘꽃길따라 향기따라 꽃천지 속으로’를 슬로건으로 한 이번 축제는 다양한 꽃 단지를 비롯해 악기연주·축하공연 등의 무대행사, 전국관광객 장기·노래자랑, 팔씨름왕 선발대회 등 볼거리, 먹거리, 즐길거리가 풍성하다.
직전 들판을 붉게 수놓은 축제의 주인공 꽃양귀비 외에도 축제장 곳곳에는 유채꽃, 하얀·분홍빛 안개초, 수레국화, 유럽·아메리카 양귀비, 수국, 미니다알리아, 연꽃정원, 이색꽃밭도 조성되어 볼거리가 풍성하다.
