경기도교육청(교육감 임태희)이 국토교통부와 (사)한국조경학회가 공동 주최한 ‘2023 제13회 대한민국 조경대상’에서 공공 부문 환경부장관상을 수상했다.
경기도교육청은 생태숲학교 운영으로 학생들의 생태 감수성을 키우고, 자연을 중심으로 순환하는 학교 생태계를 조성한 노력을 인정받아 이상을 수상했다.
특히 부천 송내고등학교의 생태 숲은 화단과 정원 위주의 이용자 중심에서 자연 중심으로 관점을 전환했다는 평가를 받았다.

생태숲학교는 학생주도 자연 친화적 공간 조성으로 지역사회와 상생하는 지속가능한 학교 모델을 구축했다. 김포 고창초의 야외 생태학습장, 안양 박달중의 둘레길, 송내고의 생태 숲이 대표적이다.
경기도교육청 이현숙 융합교육정책과장은 “생태숲학교의 학생들은 자연 속 놀이와 쉼, 힐링과 여유를 경험하고 친구들과 상호작용이 활발해져 학교가 가고 싶은 공간이 되었다”라며 “교육과정과 연계한 생태환경교육으로 지속가능한 미래를 이끌어갈 미래인재로 성장하도록 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
경기도도교육청은 생태숲학교 개방과 공유의 날을 운영해 환경교육 사례를 공유할 예정이다.

Recognized for efforts to develop ecological sensitivity and create school ecosystem through Ecological Forest School
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) won the Minister of Environment Award in the public sector at the 2023 13th Korea Landscaping Awards co-hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korean Society of Landscape Architecture.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education received the award in recognition of its efforts to foster students' ecological sensitivity through the operation of the Ecological Forest School and to create a school ecosystem that circulates around nature.
In particular, the ecological forest at Songnae High School in Bucheon was evaluated for shifting the perspective from user-centered flower beds and gardens to nature-centered.
Ecological Forest School has built a sustainable school model that coexists with the local community by creating a student-led nature-friendly space. The outdoor ecological learning center in Gochangcho, Gimpo, the Dullegil in Bakdaljung in Anyang, and the ecological forest in Songnaego are typical examples.
Lee Hyeon-sook, head of the Convergence Education Policy Division at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, said, “Students of the Ecological Forest School experience play, rest, healing, and leisure in nature, and interaction with friends has become active, making school a place they want to go to.” We will support them to grow into future talents who will lead a sustainable future.”
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education plans to share environmental education cases by running an Ecological Forest School Opening and Sharing Day.
