경기도가 운영하는 관공선 경기바다호와 경기청정호가 2월부터 본격적인 운항을 시작했다.
경기바다호와 경기청정호의 주요임무는 경기도내 어선안전 조업지도, 불법어업단속 및 해양폐기물 수거 등이다. 운항 지역은 화성·안산·시흥·김포·평택 등 연안 5개 시군으로 1,800척의 어선, 42개의 유무인도서, 268km의 해안 지역을 관리하게 된다.

경기바다호는 도서지역 행정지원과 불법어업 지도·적발 등을 담당하는 관공선이다. 올해 운항 목표는 140일로, 어선 1,500척을 대상으로 안전 조업과 해양오염 방지 지도에 나설 계획이다. 또 경기바다의 수질과 방사능 등 환경조사 지원도 추진한다.

김봉현 경기도 해양수산과장은 “경기도는 매년 도내 수산자원보호를 위해 불법 어업 단속 업무를 지속적으로 추진하고 해양폐기물을 수거해왔다”며 “올해도 관공선을 적극 활용해 깨끗한 경기바다 만들기에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
