한국평생교육사협회는 지난 3월 27일 경기도 동두천시, 의정부시, 양주시, 파주시 지역의 평생교육사들을 위한 지회 창립총회를 성공적으로 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이번 창립총회는 지역 내 평생교육사들의 네트워크를 강화하고 전문성 향상을 목표로 한다.

이번에 신설된 지회는 동두천지회(지회장 김미림), 의정부지회(지회장 송민경), 양주지회(지회장 오종임), 파주지회(지회장 박희성)로, 각 지역의 평생교육사들이 모여 협력과 정보 교류의 장을 마련할 계획이다.
본 지회의 설립 목적은 다음과 같다.
? 평생교육사의 전문성 향상을 위한 직무연수 제공
? 사회변화에 적응하는 평생교육 프로그램 모델 개발
? 평생교육 관련 연구 및 자료 제작, 배포
? 회원 간 정보공유를 위한 세미나 및 워크숍 개최
? 평생 학습도시 사업 및 국내·외 평생교육 연계 사업 참여
현대 사회에서 평생교육의 중요성이 점점 더 부각되고 있으며, 이번 지회의 설립으로 경기 북부지역의 평생교육사들은 전문성을 갖추고 지역사회 및 국가 발전에 기여할 수 있는 기반을 마련했다. 각 지회는 앞으로 다양한 전문 교육 및 워크숍을 통해 평생교육사들의 전문성을 지속적으로 개발하고, 사회적 가치를 전파하기 위한 다양한 활동을 진행할 예정이다.
