브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 삼성전자가 인공지능(AI) 분야 기술 및 제품 경쟁력 확보와 인재 양성을 위해 서울대학교와 ‘AI 공동연구센터’를 설립, 산학협력을 이어나간다.
삼성전자는 서울대학교와 17일 서울 관악구 소재 서울대 글로벌공학교육센터에서 ‘AI 공동연구센터’ 설립을 위한 업무 협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이날 협약식에는 삼성전자 DX부문 최고기술책임자(CTO) 겸 삼성리서치장 전경훈 사장, 삼성리서치 Global AI센터장 김대현 부사장, 서울대 공과대학 김영오 학장, 공과대학원 협동과정 인공지능전공 강유 주임교수 등이 참석했다.
삼성전자 DX부문과 서울대 공과대학 대학원 협동과정 인공지능전공은 이번 업무 협약을 통해 AI 공동연구센터에서 향후 3년간 AI 최신 기술 분야에 대한 산학협력 연구과제를 수행할 예정이다.
연구 과제는 On-Device AI, 멀티모달(Multi-Modal) AI 등을 위한 세부 기술 확보로 구성된다.
삼성전자는 올해 초 출시된 갤럭시 S24에 서클 투 서치(Circle to Search), 실시간 통역, 포토 어시스트 등 다양한 AI기술을 탑재했으며 비스포크 AI, AI TV 출시 등 AI 기술이 적용된 제품 영역을 확대해 나가고 있다.
삼성전자는 빠르게 변화하는 AI 분야에서 서울대와의 산학협력을 통해 AI 핵심 기술을 확보하고 제품 기술 경쟁력을 강화할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
또한, 과제에 참여하는 석·박사급 연구원을 대상으로 우수 인재 양성 및 확보를 위한 채용 연계 활동도 병행할 계획이다.
