윤석열 대통령이 22일 '2024 파리올림픽' 선수단을 격려하며 "젊은 선수들이 더 좋은 여건서 마음껏 훈련하고 기량을 키워나갈 수 있도록 낡은 관행들을 과감하게 혁신해 자유롭고 공정한 훈련 환경을 만들어야 한다"고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 부인 김건희 여사와 함께 서울 중구 신라호텔 다이너스티홀에서 '대한민국을 대표한 당신, 우리 모두의 영웅입니다' 주제로 열린 파리올림픽 선수단 격려 만찬에서 이같이 말했다고 정혜전 대통령실 대변인이 서면브리핑에서 전했다.
이 자리는 지난 1984년 LA올림픽 이후 역대 최소 규모 선수단을 파견해 총 메달 32개의 원정 경기 역대 최고 타이 성적을 거두며 'K스포츠' 위상을 높인 선수·지도자들과 국민이 함께한다는 취지로 마련됐다.
만찬은 윤 대통령 내외와 선수단·가족·지도자·파리 현지 한식 도시락 조리사들을 비롯한 지원단 등 270명이 참석한 가운데 문화행사가 어우러진 행사로 진행됐다.
