[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해시는 환경교육 우수 지방자치단체인 ‘환경교육도시’로 선정돼 24일 지정서와 현판을 수여하는 기념식을 개최했다.
시는 환경부 주관 2024년 법정 환경교육도시에 신규 선정됐다. 환경교육도시는 지역 기반의 환경교육을 활성화하기 위해 환경부가 2022년부터 광역 및 기초지자체 중에서 환경교육 추진 기반이 우수한 지역을 선정하는 제도다. 올해는 김해시를 비롯해 충청남도, 충청북도, 서대문구, 은평구, 양평군이 선정됐다.
평가는 ▲지자체 조례 제정 ▲지역환경교육센터 지정 ▲지역환경교육계획 수립 등 기본요건 충족 여부를 전제 조건으로 서면심사와 현장심사로 진행됐다. 김해시는 ▲환경교육 추진 기반 ▲환경교육 추진 실적 ▲환경교육계획 등 3개 항목 7개 지표 모두 고르게 높은 평가를 받았다.
특히 지방자치단체장 관심 부분에서 탄소중립을 위한 다양한 시책 개발과 지역 사회와 업무 협약을 통한 다양한 협업사업을 추진하기 위해 매년 환경교육예산이 증가하는 점을 높이 샀다.
