[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해시 먹거리통합지원센터가 19일 개소식을 갖고 본격적인 운영에 들어갔다.
새로운 먹거리통합지원센터는 농림축산식품부 ‘농산물산지유통센터 건립 사업’ 사업비와 경남도 특별조정교부금 등 77억원이 투입됐으며 1층은 유통물류시설, 2층은 사무실로 연면적 2,500㎡ 규모로 건립됐다.
이날 개소식에는 홍태용 김해시장, 신대호 경남도 균형발전본부장, 김정호 국회의원, 최학범 도의회 의장과 도의원, 안선환 시의회 의장과 시의원, 유관 기관 대표, 농업인 등 100여명이 참석했다.
먹거리통합지원센터는 2014년 김해지역 11개 학교 식재료 공급을 시작으로 2019년 도내 최초로 서울시 영등포구 공공급식센터에 식재료를 공급했으며 현재는 김해시 118개 전 초·중·고교, 38개 어린이집, 2개 지역아동센터에 공공급식 식재료를 공급하고 있다.
그동안 김해농산물종합유통센터에서 위탁 운영해 왔으나 10년 전에 비해 공급처 확대와 공급량의 증가로 작업공간이 부족해 어려움을 겪었다.
먹거리통합지원센터에서 공급하는 식재료 92% 이상이 김해산이며 이중 지역 농산물은 67% 이상으로 김해시는 우수한 농산물을 생산할 수 있도록 기획 생산, 안전성 관리, 교육과 학교에서 지역 농산물을 구매할 수 있도록 지원하고 있다.
농업인은 공공급식 생산자로서 의무를 다해 안정적인 판로를 확보하고 시민들에게는 건강하고 안전한 먹거리를 제공하기 위해 노력하고 있다.
홍태용 시장은 “김해시먹거리통합지원센터가 공간의 확장을 넘어 지역 농산물의 유통 혁신, 공공급식의 품질 제고, 먹거리의 안전성 강화 등 종합적인 기능을 수행하며 지속 가능한 먹거리 선순환 체계를 실현할 중요한 거점이 될 것”이라며 “안전하고 건강한 먹거리를 시민에게 제공하고 지속 가능한 농업을 발전시키기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
